Digital Mapping of Green Spaces - Urban Parks and Forestry

Delhi has increasingly noticed an insurmountable waste problem and air pollution in the city. Along with this, construction activities– both governmental and private are on the rise. At this crucial juncture it becomes imperative that we strategise on reducing emissions and that carbon sinks are adequately present in urban spaces to deal with these pressing concerns.

Thus, this project envisions a user-friendly map pinpointing every Delhi Park and its designated caretaker. This transparency will empower residents and stakeholders to hold authorities accountable for park upkeep and may also aid in keeping tabs on the green cover in the city.

Beyond identification, the map fosters citizen engagement, resource allocation for optimal park maintenance, informed decision-making for future green infrastructure development and showcases the distribution and significance of Delhi's parks within the city's green fabric. Additionally, we can engage in the management of food waste and maintenance of a kitchen garden in the green spaces to encourage subsistence agriculture, which may allow the community to come together as well. The map will soon be available as an open resource!
