Road Safety team participates in the 15th World Safety Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion

Sandeep Gaikwad, Senior Program Associate at Parisar, attended the prestigious 15th World Safety Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion from 2nd to 4th September 2024 in New Delhi. The conference brought together experts and professionals from around the globe, from diverse sectors, to discuss critical issues related to safety and injury prevention, creating a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge.

Stakeholder consultation on Road Safety and Speed Management in Mumbai

In collaboration with Mumbai Mobility Forum (MMF), Parisar organised a stakeholders consultation on 24th August, 2024 inviting various CSOs in Mumbai to take part in discussions on road safety in Mumbai and Maharashtra at large. The opening remarks were delivered by Sandeep Gaikwad from Parisar who emphasised on the importance of preparing the Urban Speed Management Guidelines for Maharashtra, and Ashok Datar who shared the work of Mumbai Mobility Forum on sustainable transportation and road safety in Mumbai. 

Stakeholder consultation in Pune for Urban Speed Management Guidelines for the state of Maharashtra

Parisar organised a stakeholder consultation in Pune on 7th August, 2024 to gather inputs on the Urban Speed Management Guidelines for Maharashtra. The meeting included 19 participants from various organisations, such as Centre for Environment Education (CEE), United Way Mumbai (UWM), Indian Road Congress (IRC), Vital Strategies, Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR), Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), World Resources Institute (WRI) India, and more. The objective of the consultation was to introduce the Urban Speed Management Guidelines and collect suggestions from all stakeholders for refining the guidelines.

#CommitToAct Mobility Snapshot Campaign by Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety

The Mobility Snapshot campaign, conducted by the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, took place from 20th to 26th of May, 2024. This initiative was part of the #CommitToAct campaign and Parisar conducted it at at two major locations in India: Swargate in Pune and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai.

Objectives

  • Assess Road Safety Conditions: To evaluate the safety and adequacy of road facilities for various users.
  • Collect Data: To gather quantitative data on the number of different types of road users.
  • Advocate for Improvements: To use the collected data to advocate for improved road safety measures with government authorities.
